Practice Update – Ordering your repeat prescription

There are changes coming to Swindon with how Registered patients will be ordering their repeat medication, as you may have heard the Prescription Ordering Service will be closing as of June 2024 hence no longer offering the current service, they provide for ordering your repeat medications.

Park Lane Practice and Phoenix Surgery have been planning for this change since it was announced, meeting with our inhouse Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Doctors, and Admin Team to ensure that the change from the Prescription Ordering Service to our Practice is smooth and not disruptive for our Patients.

The Management team at Park Lane and Phoenix wanted to update you as soon as final plans had been agreed, to ensure you had notice of how this will affect you and how you will order your repeat medications moving forward.

From the 13th May 2024 registered patients at Park Lane Practice and Phoenix Surgery will no longer be able to order their medication through the Prescription Ordering Service, below is the options of how you will be able to order your medications.

  • Registering for the NHS App, through this app you can order repeat medications, view your medical records, track ongoing referrals. This is the easiest and smoothest option available to our patients, with no need to attend the Practice to order your medication,
  • Both Practices will have a Prescription Box available if you are unable to use the NHS App, you will need the white repeat medication slip supplied when you collect your medication, this needs to be marked clearly with which medication you require.

We are asking ALL patients not to make a telephone call into the Practice to order your medication, as this will cause pressure on the number of Incoming calls to the team, we have trained Prescription Clerks within the Admin team and Pharmacy Technicians that will be handling all medication requests, and they will not always be available by phone.

If you are due a medication review, you will be informed via SMS Message to book an appointment with one of the Pharmacists, when you receive this message, please ensure you book an appointment this will ensure there is not future delay in issuing your medication.

We want to thank all our patients from their support to both Practices during this consultation period.
